Tectan Chair

Tectan Chair

RISD
2002

The first assignment in RISD’s Chair Studio was to make a chair out of some scrap material in half a day. The first photo shows a dining chair which was the result. I later referenced the form to create my Tectan Chair.

Picture 2 shows a mock up with adjustable pegs that allow for different positions for the the seat surface and back.

Picture 3 is one of my earliest renderings of one of my earliest 3D models.

My first finished chair, the Tectan Chair is made from sheets of compressed juice boxes the surface of the chair has little reflective aluminum bits. The form is an iteration of the initial ‘first chair.’
